Logan at Eight Months

Eight months has been a big time for you, Logan! You are done so much developmentally this month. It's crazy how fast you will move from one skill to the next. I wish you would slow down a little, buddy!

All smiles!

My boo!
At the beginning of the month you were still working on crawling and scooting/rolling your way around. Then you decided you wanted to pull yourself up and see what was going on around you.
We had to help you pull up but it wasn't long (just a few days) till you were strengthening those legs and pulling up on your own. You would even use your mouth to try to get a grip and pull yourself up. Now, you can mostly pull up on your own and you can stand with little assistance. You are still wobbly but you hate to sit still now. You want to be standing all the time and will pull up on everything around.

This month you also started really working on feeding yourself. You were grabbing at food before but having a hard time getting it to your mouth. Well this month you have no trouble grasping at food and bringing it to your mouth. Even small things like puffs are no problem and you get them in your mouth most of the time.

Another big accomplishment for you this month has been getting your first tooth! The bottom middle tooth finally started poking through this month. It gave you a hard time! You were in pain so bad, we could just tell it was hurting you. You were not your normal, happy self for a few days dealing with that. Hopefully the first one is the worst one and you will be ok from now on.

So excited about the teeth!

Look at those teefers!
Besides teething you have been a really happy baby this month. You are very playful and love to play peek a boo and get tickled and giggle. You are still very interested in your surroundings and almost hate to be given a bottle because you can't see what is going on around you!

You got to play with cousin Emelia this month!
You are still really interested in your brother and want to be near him a lot. Steven has taken an interest in making you smile and laugh and you just love that. You are sometimes a bit cautious around him still but that's understandable because he can still be a bit too rough. He just can't wait to play with you though and you two are going to be so much trouble, I can already tell.

My boys!

Logan you are just growing by leaps and bounds. Its incredible how fast you are growing, I think you might even beat your brother to walking, which is crazy! You are still just the sweetest, happiest baby (except when you are teething). I can't wait to see what fun stuff we can get into this summer!

Naptime?! What?

Logan at Seven Months

Logan, this month you have really stolen my heart! You are such a sweet baby, it's such a pleasure to get to take care of you! You mostly go with the flow with everything. You are easy-going and happy a lot of the time. You put up with a lot of rough housing by your brother and he just cracks you up. Sometimes he is too rough with you and it really doesn't seem to bother you that much. We don't get to hold you as much as we want to because we have your crazy brother to deal with a lot of the times, but you really don't seem to mind too much. You will play on the floor by yourself happily or in the bouncer.

He's such a cutie!
Speaking of playing on the floor, you can really make a mess! I'm genuinely amazed at the amount of mess you are able to create just sitting next to a basket of toys. You love to tip over the basket and get all the toys out and throw them around. When I took you in for a Dr. appointment you managed to tear up the paper sheeting they had down on the exam table in like .2 seconds. It was incredible! ha ha. I think you have a bit of the troublemaker your brother you got in you too!

Boo!

You are so good at self-soothing. You love to have your binky and for the longest time you couldn't keep it in your mouth. Now you have figured out how to hold the binky in your mouth with your hand! It's so adorable. Towards the end of the month you have figured out how to hold it in with just your mouth but it is just so sweet to see you holding in your own pacifier.

You are pretty good at soothing yourself to sleep as well. I love rocking you, now that we have a rocking chair in your room it is a sweet moment between us at the end of my hectic day. You are such a sweetheart and usually can find a comfortable position right away and just doze off to sleep. A lot of times when I lay you down, you will startle or wake up but you will put yourself back to sleep on your own usually. You are still mostly sleeping through the night and that's AMAZING. After your 6 month shots, you cried at night and I knew something was wrong. Poor guy, those shots really threw you for a loop. But generally you wouldn't cry if something wasn't really wrong.

This month you have really started to try to get mobile. You get to spend some time every week at Grandma Riegerx's with Micah who is crawling. So I think that motivates you to get going. You have started moving your legs and reaaching for things when you are on your tummy. But mostly that results in you rolling over and looking darn cute. I know you will get crawling any day now. You actually crawl in your sleep I think because sometimes you will cry and I will see that you are jammed up in the corner of your crib and your legs are still moving. So cute. Even at 4am that's pretty cute.

At the zoo!
You love to practice standing up holding onto something. You're not steady enough for me to let you go but you love to practice and I think you get a kick out of the new viewpoint. I wonder if you will crawl or go straight to walking like your brother.

Logan does Target
This month you have really picked up your babbling. You babble all the time and its starting to actually sound like words. You will babble "Ba" a lot and a few other sounds. Before it was just sort of incorherent noises but now I can tell you're trying out sounds that make words. We babble to each other in the car on the way to and from Grandmas. I love it. You "say" something and I make that sound back to you and we go back and forth for a while.

Logan, its hard to believe you are already 7 months old. Where has the time gone? You are just the sweetest, happy baby with the best temperament. It is truly a joy to be with you and get to take care of you. You had a really productive month, learning to make sounds, hold in your binky with your mouth and hand and working on crawling! We love you so much!

April Tidbits

April was a busy and super fun month for us. A lot of good things happened in our life too!

Steve took Steven to ComicCon in the beginning of the month. They had a great time! Steve was super excited to show off all his nerdy-ness to Steven, who has really been into super heroes lately. It was perfect timing as SpiderMan has become one of Steven's favorite shows to watch. Dan and Meghan sent Willow's old costume to us for Steven to wear. It comes complete with fake muscles! Steven LOVED it and he still wears it all the time. Here they are getting ready to go.

Trying to do the spiderman web thing. Almost got it!

Who's more excited?
I didn't go with them because of the ticket price but Steve said they had a great time. He said Steven was sort of stunned by all the characters and a little shy. But they found someone his own size and Steven loved that.

We've been having some spring weather FINALLY! So we've been trying to take advantage of that. Like I said in March's post, we have sort of a weird backyard. We live up on a hill which is great but the backyard is on a pretty steep incline. Plus the back of our house goes all the way down to a pretty busy street so we were really worried Steven would take off. Also, the dogs got loose like 1000000 times since we've moved in. So all of this to say, we needed a fence. We ordered one from Home Depot and they put it in this month.

Fence Yay!
We sort of got screwed on the property line too because we have a pie shaped yard where two straight lots meet. Oh well, we didn't know that when we bought the house but it definitely wouldn't have stopped us from buying it.

The guy who came to put in our fence was amazing. We thought it would be an entire crew and stuff, nope, one dude. His name was Clarence and he was extremely nice. He talked to Steven and put up with Steven in his face asking about his tools and stuff. He was also an extremely hard worker. OMG He put up our entire fence on this stupid incline by himself in 2 days. I can't imagine how many times he went up and down that hill. We were so grateful.

Since we had some nice weather, Steve took advantage of it and the big hill we live right next to by teaching Steven to fly a kite over there. We had some pretty windy days. Here are actions shots of them flying kites. Steve got it up super high.

Can't see the kite bc its practically up towards the  moon!
Here's Steven running home because he's mad that he can't touch the kite in the air...lol

So obviously that was a huge success lol

Steve and I had a big date night in April. I was SO excited. We went to see Billy Joel in concert. I have loved his music ever since I was little and have always wanted to see him in concert. He has come quite a few times over the years but I've never gone. This year, I said we should go before he stops touring. So we went! It was great! The tickets were so expensive so we had nose bleed seats. These pictures are horrible but we had a great time.

Horrible selfie.

We've had so much fun this month just hanging around the house with our two goofballs. I put them in matching jammies one night and it was a big hit! They loved it. Steven keeps asking if they can match some more.

How cute are they?
Brotherly love
Here are some other random shots from just hanging out with our kiddos this month:

Logan Garrett's Baptism

On March 30th, we had Logan baptized. He's a little older than we would have liked him to be for this but with all the moving craziness we had to push it back a bit. It ended up bring fine though. He still fit into the baptism gown so it's all good.

This baptism gown is so neat. It's the same one that Steve and all of his siblings got baptized in. Willow was the first grand baby to use it and Steven used it as well. I love that special tradition!

We have such a wonderful family. So many people came out to support him and love him on this special day.

We had him baptized at Mt. Tabor UCC. The same church I was baptized in, Steve and I got married in and where we got Steven baptized. So even though we don't go there every Sunday it's still a really special church to us.

Logan was a total sweetheart and didn't cry at all. He tried to grab the pastor's face but that was it. He really is suck a good baby.

my boys

Proud god parents, Dan and Meghan Riegerix.

Afterwards we had everyone out to our new house. Most people had seen it already but it was still fun to have everyone over.

Love :)

Our favs!

Julie drove all the way out to play with my boys! Jake was here too...somewhere! lol
Willow loves baby Logan. This was a really sweet moment between them.

We had lots of people and had a great time. It turned out to be a beautiful day so that was great too.

Logan at 6 Months

This had been a big month for you Logan! You have been busy growing by leaps and bounds.

You were grabbing everything we would be eating and really reaching out for food. Since it was close to your 6 month make I decided to try giving you some real good. You weren't too impressed with the solid food. I think you were mostly still figuring out exactly how to grip it and hold it to your mouth. That's tricky stuff!

First solid foods!

So I decided to try some rice cereal mixed with breast milk and you've been loving that so far. We do a small serving of that at dinner now and you eat it all up! Steven never cared much for the cereal but you open your mouth right up and fuss a bit if I try to leave while feeding you. Guess you are a growing boy!

You really didn't love the sweet potatoes. LOL

You mastered a big skill this moby, sitting up unassisted. Your daddy worked with you one morning and you finally got it! You had been getting close for a while but couldn't quite get the balance right to keep from falling over. But now you've got it!

So big!
Daddy also took some selfies because he was so excited! ha ha
Selfies with daddy!
It's so fun to see you sitting up like a big boy. You can really interact with your brother better this way too. Which is do great because he just cracks you up like crazy.

Goofballs
On the subject of your brother you are loving hanging out with him lately. You get really distracted when nursing if he is jumping around like a mad man. You strain your head and neck to watch him. You pretty much follow him around the room by moving your head and neck whenever you can.

Since you are getting more interactive, Steven is loving it. He requests to play with you and shows you toys (and takes them from you sometimes). You just love attention from your big bro. You will laugh and smile and giggle at him. It's so sweet and melts my heart to see the relationship blooming between you two.

Besides eating some solids and sitting up this month you've pretty much mastered sleeping through the night as well. You have occasional nights where you'll cry but we know something must be off because you usually sleep from when we put you down around 8pm to 6am. I LOVE that. Thank you so much Logan. Mommy really appreciates it.

Happy boy!
All month I just keep pinching myself with how good of a baby you are. You are so chill and roll with the punches. You are content usually to sit in your bouncer or to play near where we are doing something. You don't hardly ever fuss and you do so well putting yourself to sleep. We are so blessed to have you in our lives.
