Weekend Recap

Finally caught up! Last weekend was a lot of fun and also pretty crazy. I got to spend some time with friends, we got some house stuff done and celebrated Father's Day.

On Friday I got to spend time with two of my good friends. Friday for dinner I got together with Julie and her friends for her 30th birthday! Can you believe we are both 30 now? Crazy.

Julie has some really sweet friends and they all have kiddos so that was nice to talk to them. Two of the couples I sat by have 2 boys so that was interesting hearing their stories...(I'm scared).

I had to leave a little early because I had plans to meet my other good friend, Jenn for an art class. We signed up for a class at the South Broadway Art Project.  It ended up just being us two and the instructor for the class which was nice. I definitely need more intense help in the art dept so it was good. lol Jenn and I always have fun at those classes and I think its a fun, different thing to do. Here are our masterpieces:

Jen made the flower and I did a fern (you knew it was a fern, right?)

Saturday we worked on stuff for the house all day. Steve has been working really hard on the carport, getting the paint on the floor all scraped up first. Then he repainted it and sealed it (with like 57 coats and 57 trips to Home Depot). I don't have any pictures of that but I assure you its not that interesting to look at.

Saturday evening we did go over to the Riegerix's for Father's Day. They had a busy day so it was just casual. Matt, Ruty, and Eli are in town now because Ruty's going to deliver her baby in the next month! That's exciting. Steven really loves to play with Eli too.

Sunday was Father's Day. Steve just wanted to hang out with Steven and since everything is closed early Sunday morning we just took him to the mall to run around. He had a blast. He's such a cutie.

Sunday afternoon we went to my parent's for BBQ. It was really nice to hang out with them. My Aunt Jan was there too so that was good to visit with her. Don't the daddy's look so stylish with all their spring colors?
The kid is kinda cute too. ;)
I made a special dessert for my dad, key lime pie parfaits. I saw the recipe on Pinterest and thought my dad would really like them. They were pretty easy to make and very good. My dad even commented they were very good so that's a win! I would have made Steve a special dessert but he hasn't been eating sweets and he didn't want me to make him anything tempting.

We had a good visit with them though. Steven loves being over there and it was great weather. Happy Father's Day to all the daddies. I hope everyone had as good of a Father's Day as we did.

Circus Flora and Willow's Bday Party

A few weeks ago we had a family celebration for our niece, Willow's, 5th birthday. (I still can't believe she is 5 already!) For the past few years we have gone to Circus Flora as a family to celebrate (care of Grandma and Grandpa). We were also able to include some friends this year including Julie Elder and her beautiful boys. It was great to spend some time with them!

All the wonderful people that were with us.
I really love going to the circus. It is so neat to see the different acts and they change it up every year. My favorite are the trapeze family at the end. So cool! Its fun to see it through the kiddos eyes too. This is the first year Steven has not slept through the majority of the circus so that was good. I think he really enjoyed it. He was watching intently for quite a while (till he peed his pants LOL).

Steven also loves hanging out with Jake. They are pretty cute together. Here they are sharing a sno-cone at intermission.

Goofballs.

Steven was all about Baby Nicholas too. He loves babies. Grandma Riegerix got her baby fix too. Everybody wins!
Don't worry I held him a long time too. Love that baby so much!

Yay!

With the ringmaster of the circus.
Afterwards we went back to Grandma and Grandpa Riegerix's house for a birthday BBQ. It was really a nice day so they were able to play outside some. Uncle Tim gave Steven a nerf sword as a belated bday gift (sigh). So all the kids had a huge sword fight outside. Stevens in his underwear. it was pretty sweet.

It was a great time. We all had so much fun! Steven didn't have a nap so he was crabby for a bit but he rallied. He loves playing with his cousins and with Jake. I loved the family time and the opportunity to spend some time with Julie. It was a great day!

Weekend Recap - A few weekends ago...

I'm a little behind on dumping my camera and writing these weekend recaps. This was a few weekends ago but still some fun stuff going on so I thought I'd share. :)

We started Steven in swimming lessons at the Manchester Parks and Rec. (Thanks for the recommendation, mom.) It's been super cute. He really likes swimming now which is a huge relief because last summer he was SO not into it. I think it was really good we took him on vacation and he was in the water everyday for a week.

He really gets excited about going swimming now and its super cute.

"Go swimming, Mommy!"

The class requires a parent to be in the water with him and Steve has been doing it. I think its a really great bonding experience for them (plus the water is cooooold).

Just look at how cute they are!

They do some cute games and teach them some skills too. This week they were working on kicking feet. Steven was really proud of himself to be able to kick his feet!

I remember those kicking boards.

The "popcorn" game.

Kicking his feets. Aw!
Also a few weekends ago, we had our 4 year wedding anniversary. It seems like time has flown by so quickly to be at 4 years already! Jordan and Kim were kind enough to come over and babysit so we could have a date night. Don't we clean up good?

Cute couple.
We went to dinner at this delicious restaurant called The Tavern. It's this cute little place in a strip mall that you wouldn't even really notice if you weren't looking for it. It's actually right next to my parents house. But its SO nice inside. Very romantic, fancy, upscale feeling. And the food was amazing! They have a whole wall of wines that I want to definitely try next time we go (not prego).

I was pretty proud of us for trying out this new place!
They have these things called tasting boards where you can try 4 of their entrees so you get a bite of each, which is really convenient because everything sounded SO good.

This was the tasting board I got. It was basically all the meat entrees. It had (from top left down) steak, meatloaf/mashed potatoes, pork something and chicken saltimboca. (I think). They were all really, really good. Steve got the seafood tasting board which was also delicious. He said it was the best clam chowder he ever had.

Funny story about this date night. We were really hungry so we asked the waiter for an appetizer recommendation. He said one called foie gras pockets was his favorite and explained it was "duck". Well apparently I didn't hear him say "duck livers" because I said we should try that one. So we did! It was delicious. I didn't realize my mistake till the next day when Steve commented he can't believe I wanted to order the duck liver appetizer. LOL! Well it was really good!

We got the half baked chocolate chip cookie and ice cream for dessert. Heavenly!

We planned to go to a movie after dinner but a crazy severe storm hit right as we were leaving the restaurant. There were tornado warnings, torrential downpours, etc. It was nuts! We decided to just go home instead to cuddle our baby. But all in all it was a great date night!

St. Louis Renaissance Faire

A few weekends ago we took Steven to the St. Louis Renaissance Faire. This fair comes in every summer for a few weekends in May and June. Big Steve loves to go to this. He usually goes with his friends but this year he really wanted to take Steven. I'm not a huge fan, we went once when we were dating and it's not my favorite place to be. But I agreed Steven would have a blast so off we went.

We bought tickets online for Memorial Day and it ended up raining a lot the day before. It was scheduled to rain that day but not till later in the afternoon so we went anyway. I didn't realize the grounds would be so muddy (duh). Not only did we get muddy but that affected the faire too. They didn't have some of the shows they would normally have like the joust with the horses, so that was kind of a bummer.

We let Steven have a pony ride and it was pretty cute. But of course he freaked out. Ha ha. Waiting for the ride he was really excited.

Look mom! Horsey!
During not so much...
Not sure about this...
Afterward just one lap he was done. Ha ha! He got off and they actually gave us some of our money back because he didn't do the 2 laps we paid for. So that was nice. But of course as soon as he got off the horse he was like, "Ride this one, Mommy?" Stinker.

They have a lot of neat shows but we didn't get to see too many. We didn't get a map or show schedule for some reason when we came in so we just wandered aimlessly.

Steven did get to play with toys which was pretty cool. I did it too, it was pretty fun!

Almost got it! So big!
I think the girl got annoyed with him because he tried to use them as drumsticks or something? I wasn't watching but, come on, he's 2. LOL

We sat down to watch the joust but because of the mud they didn't use the horses (bummer) and didn't do it in the regular arena. They did it on a path near the arena and we ended up being on the wrong side for that. Boo

Big Steve was really tired from walking around and fighting being sick. I was pretty tired too so we decided to grab a snack and jet. Steven loved the sno-cone. It was my first one of the summer and was delicious.
Yum
As we started walking out it started to rain so it was actually good timing to leave. Steven fell asleep in the car like .5 seconds after leaving so he must have been tired too. Next year we will pick a better weather day and make sure to get a map! I think Steven enjoyed it though.

2nd Time Around - 22 Weeks

It's been a while since I did one of these updates. Life has been crazy! So I hit the halfway mark last week, that's something! Baby bump is in effect!

Nothing really too exciting going on with the pregnancy. We had the anatomy scan a few weeks ago and everything is looking good with the baby. He is definitely a boy! The tech said he was very, um generous about showing her those parts. ha ha! They were slightly concerned about the position of my cervix and placenta but said nothing to worry about yet, just to watch. I go back for a follow up ultrasound at 32 weeks so hopefully that problem is corrected by then.

I got to debut my maternity swimsuit on our trip. I really loved it. It fit great and still had plenty of room to grow for this summer. It was super comfy too.

I'm feeling really good. I'm getting bigger, so that's never fun. Definitely in maternity pants all the time now. Some regular shirts I can get away with still but for the most part I'm wearing maternity. I'm not uncomfortably big yet though so that's good. (have that to look forward to still.)

I have been more tired lately. Steven was really clingy on the trip and he was a bit sick after, which made him even more clingy. I got really worn out trying to carry him around. He's 30lbs now! That surprised me getting tired carrying him around. I'm used to being able to do it no problem!

I did have some lower stomach pain during the trip and after. My OB said it's probably round ligament pain which is just from my body stretching out to accommodate the growing baby. He said its nothing to worry about unless it comes with back pain (no) and spotting (no). So we are good! Still having itchiness, though ugh! That's annoying but luckily the rash from hell hasn't returned (cross your fingers).

Baby has been kicking like crazy! He started really kicking on our trip and has been kicking consistently since we got back. Steve has even gotten to feel it a few times, which is awesome. He's a strong kicker and I feel like this is going to hurt later, when he's bigger.

So overall I'm already over halfway there and still doing well!
