Hail Damage Sucks!!

Some of you St. Louisans may remember a few weeks ago when we had that bad hail storm. Or you might remember seeing mention of it in this post. To refresh your memory here's what it looked like from our front door:

Some areas had no hail but we were the lucky ones and had a huge hail storm that night. Here are some good articles and pictures of damage from around our area:

Anyways we were the lucky ones to have all of our cars parked at our house (no garage) and bear the brunt of the hail storm. Steve and I watched it come down for a few minutes, it was nuts. I couldn't believe hail that big was landing on our lawn/car/house/etc. So after that lovely evening, we assessed the damage.
All of our cars were effed. I mean dinged up badly and 2 of 3 windshields had cracked.. It was crazy. Our siding had dings in it and our roof is damaged (I haven't been up there personally but I'll take the roofer guy's word for it). So we've had estimators, insurance claim agents, body shops, roofers and contractors, etc etc out the wazoo the past 2 weeks. That has been really fun...NOT. I do have to give a big shout out to my hubby who has pretty much handled all of this on his own. Since he was home during the day he did most of the calling around, scheduling appointments, meeting contrators, taking our cars in, etc, etc. So that was really nice to not have to handle all those details. But it still sucks!
So our main car, our Ford Edge has been in the shop for.ever!! We have had this beautiful rental car going on 2 weeks now.

Its nice enough and gets us from point A to point B but in order to fit the car seat in the back the passenger has to basically have their knees against the dashboard. So that's pretty uncomfortable...I mean yes, we are lucky to have a car to drive, but I would also really prefer to have my lovely car back ASAP please and thank you :)
So after all the estimates and everything else, here's what ended up happening.
Our 1992 Ford Escort - totaled! Yep, they totaled it out. Can you believe that? The body damage would cost more to fix than the car is worth...awesome.

Action shot!
Our 2008 Ford F150 - $3,000 in damages. Lots of body work, totally cracked windshield and a rear light broken.

Our 2010 Ford Edge - over $6000 in damages. Body work, body work, body work and a cracked windshield. Been in the shop going on 2 weeks now...wondering if she's ever coming back to us (sniffle).

Our house....wait for it...nearly $20,000 in damages! Are you kidding me!?! We are getting a new roof, new siding and a new roof on our shed. Among a lot of other little things. NUTSO!
And to think this all happened because of about 30 minutes of hail storm a few weeks ago...Well at least we aren't the only ones. Just about every house in our neighborhood has a roofing sign in their yard...so. Misery loves company? No, no rest for the wicked, no? what is that saying!! Oh yeah FML!
