2nd Time Around - 11 Weeks

*Catch up post from 2 weeks ago*

Already 11 weeks in! It seems like its going fast and slow all at the same time. We told our family and some friends last weekend and that was great. But its still counting the days till we can tell everyone. I hate secrets, probably because I suck at keeping them. I'm also counting down the days till we are out of the woods so to speak and I'm at 12 weeks. That will be a nice little relief. :)

*Excuse the no makeup in these pics. It was a work from home day ;)

This week I actually feel much better than I have been. The past 2 weeks or so I've just been SO tired and rundown. I'm exhausted just taking a shower in the morning. And I was really nauseous. Like all day long. Yuck! With Steven it was like a sour tummy feeling all day but this time its like that barfy feeling in the back of your throat (you know the one). Yuck. Ok that's more than you wanted to know.

But luckily this week that feeling and my over tiredness have subsided a bit. I still feel pretty tired at the end of the day but not extremely exhausted like I was. I even had energy to deep clean my house this weekend so that's a good thing! Of course I took a 3 hour nap on Sunday but whatever.

Another thing that's been really strong this time around is cravings! I had some cravings with Steven but this time it seems like more. At first I really wanted orange juice. I went through 2 containers of OJ in like a week. Then I was craving cherry sprite. How random is that? I never drink that but it just tasted so good. I was also craving brownies so I made them when we had family over this weekend. Delicious.

So all that eating hasn't been good. I really want to try not to gain too much this time around. With Steven I gained way too much weight and I was just so miserable and huge by the end of it. It was also really hard to lose afterwards. I've built up my endurance and strength in the past few months and I really want to have a healthy pregnancy this time. Luckily so far it seems that I'm not gaining weight yet. I've continued to workout at the gym, although not as intensely as I was. So that is a good thing. My clothes are still fitting and actually a bit big still so that's a good thing!

So that's 11 weeks for you! Can't wait to tell everyone and feel a bit better.

12 Weeks...First Trimester Over!

Can't believe its already the end of the first trimester. Time is flying by! I feel like I'm really turning into a pregnant lady lately. I feel much more pregnant than I did the past 12 weeks. its sort of weird. This week the baby is developing reflexes including opening and closing of their fingers, curling their toes and moving their mouth. Crazy! Apparently the baby's intestines are developing outside of their body for now and will soon move inside after they develop a little further. I did not know that and that is kind of gross. ha ha! Baby is about the size of a lime this week and is looking something like this:

This week I am feeling much better. I am not nearly as nauseous all the time during the day and that is really great. I am also able to cook again and brush my teeth again without gagging so that's been a nice improvement. As far as energy level, I think I am feeling pretty good. I am still pretty tired at the end of the day but am able to make it through the entire work day. As far as how I look, I feel like I am really starting to show. I think at first you couldn't really tell if it was just belly or if I was pregnant but now it definitely looks like a pregnant belly. I have noticed women at work staring at my belly and I'm sure they are wondering. I don't know if I'm going to be able to wait another week to tell my work, I think most of them will figure it out before then. One girlfriend of mine at work asked me yesterday if I was pregnant. She said its pretty obvious...So I may have to tell them sooner than later.

Another interesting development this week besides people commenting on my belly is people touching it! I was not expecting that this soon. I read in the books that people feel free to touch your belly without permission when you are pregnant but I didn't think they'd be doing it this soon! We went to a wedding this weekend and people were rubbing my belly...that was weird! I guess I should get used to it!!

Exciting Moment of the Week: Even though people were weirding me out and rubbing my belly it was fun to see everyone at Steve's cousin's wedding being so supportive. We saw a few friends that have babies and they were very excited for us. It is nice to have so much support.

Oh and Steve went back to work this week! That is super freaking exciting!!!

What I am Missing this Week: At the wedding everyone was drinking and having a good time and its not that I really miss drinking or the taste of alcohol but I missed being a part of that. Its totally worth it not to drink during the pregnancy but just watching everyone drinking around me was a little tough.

Symptoms this Week: Mostly just fatigue. I am just really super drained at the end of the workday and can't usually find the energy to do anything in the evenings besides make some dinner, crash on the couch for a few hours and then go to bed early! I hope I get some more energy back in the 2nd trimester but I'm not holding out hope for much! ha ha

Obsessions this Week: This week especially I have been obsessing about what I am going to tell my work. I don't know why it is making me so nervous and I am sure they will all be happy for me but I am really going crazy thinking about it. I should just get it over with!

Message to the Baby: Baby, we are so excited to meet you! You are growing so fast in there and the fact that you are growing inside of me is so incredible and crazy. What a blessing you are and we are both so happy to have you!!!

11 Weeks...Almost 1/3 of the way there!

Can't believe I'm already finished with 11 weeks! The first trimester will be over in a week! It has just flown by so quickly. (Which is kind of good considering how I was feeling.) Lots of exciting things happening this week. We made some of our first nursery purchases. I will put up some pictures and the story of how we got them soon!

I had my monthly doctor's visit on Friday and he said everything is going great. He was happy I had already lost 12lbs during the first trimester and said that was really good. I almost feel guilty for losing weight, like I'm not eating enough for the baby or something. But I know that its normal to lose weight in the first trimester due to watching what you eat and the baby using your extra nutrients. I guess I am glad that I did since the doctor said it's what he would like to see for me. I also was able to see the baby again and boy has he grown! The baby looks huge compared to the ultrasound pictures we had before, about double in size. It's crazy how fast he's growing in there!

The baby is looking something like this these days:

It's funny that the baby in this picture is upside down because that's exactly how our baby looked in this month's sonogram. He was totally upside down. The doctor said that's fine and nothing to worry about. He said right now the baby is just swimming around in there having a good time. LOL My doctor is so funny! Anyways, on the ultrasound picture I saw the baby's arms waving around. Can you believe that!? My baby is moving his arms around inside of me. Totally weird. The baby is just moving around in there all the time, but I won't be able to feel it for a few more weeks. (Kind of can't wait for that!) This week the baby has fully developed his hands and is able to open and close them into fists. His gums are developing tiny tooth buds in them. Awesome!!

Another exciting thing this week was going maternity clothes shopping...again! My super sweet parents came over for a visit and decided that I needed more maternity clothes. Who am I to turn down an offer like that? But they really were right. I only had a few shirts that fit right now and really only 1 pair of jeans. I love shopping in general but getting clothes to fit my new pregnant body is super exciting. My mom and I picked up several great deals from the Motherhood Maternity Outlet by my house. That was a great surprise to find an outlet at the mall. I had been into the regular Motherhood store and it was so crazy expensive! But this outlet had some of the exact same clothes at about half the price. So we got a lot of things for work and some comfy things for around the house. We also found some things that fit at Old Navy Maternity, which was great. I love the style of their clothes so it was nice to find some things there. Let me show you some of the awesome new clothes I got this weekend:

From Old Navy Maternity, we found a comfy sweater for winter. Its still a little big which will be good because I probably won't wear it for a while yet. But doesn't it look totally warm and comfy?

We also picked up a couple of these long sleeved but lightweight shirts for the fall. They are so comfy and soft. I'm excited to start wearing these right now! I have pink and also green and a similar one in black.

I got this *purple* shirt for the fall as well. Its pretty lightweight but I think it can be worn in the winter with a cardigan. Its still pretty roomy so I'm looking forward to wearing it when I can fill it out a bit more!

We also picked up a pair of jeans and khaki's from the Motherhood outlet that I absolutely love. They are fitting me now, but also roomy enough that I can hopefully wear them for the rest of my pregnancy. It's really nice to have some options in my closet now, instead of only 3 shirts and I pair of jeans that still fit!

So yeah for more shopping!! This is going to be one stylish baby bump! :)

Exciting Moment of the Week: Seeing our huge baby at the ultrasound on Friday! Holy Moly has the baby grown in the past month! I guess it could be because the other 2 ultrasounds we had were only 2 weeks apart but this time the baby seems to have grown like crazy since the last time we saw him. The doctor said we might be able to see the sex next month too so that is very exciting news!

What I am Missing this Week: Not really missing anything in particular. I went to lunch and a movie with some girlfriends this weekend and they were talking about drinking wine and going to a winery this fall. That made me kind of sad for a minute thinking how fun that would be and I am going to miss out. But really, its not that much of a sacrifice to me. I'd much rather have a beautiful and healthy baby and truly I don't miss drinking all that much. (Mostly because the thought of it makes me want to puke!)

Symptoms this Week: Still feeling super tired and worn out. Although I did notice an increase in my energy level. On Friday, when I was off work we went to the doctor and did a few errands and to the grocery store. Then we were home for a bit and went to have dinner with Steve's parents. That was a lot to do for one day and a month ago I wouldn't have had enough energy to do it all. So I think my energy level has increased somewhat but I still needed a nap the next day to catch up!

Obsessions this Week: Getting baby advice from everyone I meet! ha ha! This week and last week we were able to spend some time with a few friends with babies and also family. I probably annoyed everyone else there but I pumped them for info the entire time! There is just so much to learn and I think those people who have experienced it are the best resource. Thanks for all the advice and encouragement guys!!

Message to the Baby: Baby, you are growing so fast it blows your mommy's mind! I can't believe how quickly you have gone from a tiny dot to a real person! We are so excited to meet you so just keep growing in there!!

10 Weeks...Double Digits!!

Finishing up 10 weeks prego and I can hardly believe it! Double digits seems so big. I know I still have 30 weeks to go but still! Making it to 10 weeks seems like a great accomplishment, especially with our miscarriage before and being super worried about that the entire time. I feel like now, I can relax a little. Plus, I've started feeling much better this week and that is really nice. Now I don't feel horrible all the time so I can at least enjoy this pregnancy a little bit or at least enjoy day dreaming about what our baby will be like... :)

Our little guy is growing quickly this week. He has started developing his tissues and organs. They are growing and maturing everyday. Also, he has started kicking up a storm, even though I won't feel it for a couple months still. (Not sure if I'm looking forward to that yet...) His limbs can bend now and tiny nails are growing on his fingers and toes. Tiny fingernails people! How cute is that?! Here's how our baby peanut is looking these days:

Still looking sorta alien-like but getting bigger and stronger each day!

This week, we tried to wrap up telling all our friends and family. So that's been fun to hear how excited everyone is. I'm pretty sure Steve's entire family knows by now and they are so excited. Most of my family knows and they were psyched too. We have told most of our friends, but I haven't told my girlfriends at work yet for fear that it might get out at work before I get a chance to tell my boss. I feel sort of bad for not telling them and I hope they can forgive me when I do tell them. I think they will understand. I am planning to tell my boss on November 2nd, that is the day we have a scheduled one-on-one meeting. I am thinking that will be great timing, I should be out of my first trimester and we will have a chance to talk about it. But that also makes me super nervous. I think they will be ok with it, but you never know!

Other developments this week, I got to go Maternity clothes shopping with my mom this weekend. That was awesome! It was so exciting to try on Maternity clothes! I felt so mom-like and it was just a surreal feeling to be needing these clothes and wearing them. I guess this pregnancy thing is for real! She got me a ton of clothes and I am so appreciative for that! I am wearing some now and let me tell you, they are so much more comfortable than my other clothes. Even though the scale says I've lost 10lbs so far, my clothes aren't fitting the same way they used to. My pants are feeling tighter so I'm thinking there must be some major bloating going on here. So its super nice to have some clothes to fit my growing belly!

We are going back to the doctor on Friday for my monthly check up. I can't wait to see the baby again and hear how he has grown. I hope everything is great and the doctor says we are on track.

Exciting Moment of the Week: Getting some real Maternity clothes! It was so nice to be able to share that moment with my mom. Maybe its a sentimental pregnant lady thing but its so nice to think that my mom was going through all this with me in her tummy. It makes you really appreciate your mother!! She is so sweet too, I just loved shopping with her.

What I am Missing this Week: My appetite? LOL. I haven't had much of one lately. Even though the nausea is subsiding, its still there. I can't eat very much in one sitting still and I'm constantly hungry so those two make for a crabby lady!

Symptoms this Week: Still feeling super tired. We had a 3 day weekend and I think I probably slept 10 hours each day. Maybe more! I needed a nap everyday and we mostly just laid around the house! Just cleaning the house wears me out. Steve has been really understanding in letting me catch up on sleep on the weekends, which is awesome. Other than that, the active nausea is gone and now its just a general yucky feeling but no puking so I'll take it!

Obsessions this Week: I finally got the baby books I ordered from Half.com in the mail this week so I've been trying to read those and learn as much as I can. I also have been looking around at stuff for the nursery and have a ton of ideas. I will have to do a nursery post soon!

Message to the Baby: We hope you are enjoying your time in there, baby! Thank you so much for easing up on mommy and letting me have some rest from feeling gross all the time. I hope the second trimester brings even more of that! We love you!

9 weeks...Eek!

Finished up 9 weeks of pregnancy and feeling a little better. Still having nausea most of the day and having to throw up a couple days a week. Still feeling pretty tired overall. New symptoms this week: I've finally developed that disgusting taste in my mouth. I've read others have experienced this during their pregnancy but I never really understood what they were talking about. Oh boy, now I do. And let me tell you, it is gross. If only brushing my teeth didn't trigger my gag reflex and lead to vomiting, I would brush my teeth 10 times a day! Also a new development this week: acne. Ah, my old friend. Honestly though, I really find myself not caring. I have had acne my whole life and now its coming back with a vengeance but by the time I finish worrying about how I'm feeling, what I'm eating, and everything else in life, a few pimples really don't bother me! Also, I've started to become super emotional. If there is a remotely sad commercial on TV or song on the radio, I'm probably crying. It is annoying! Lol oh well. Hopefully my hormones will regulate and get this in check.

I've started obsessing over TLC shows about babies (much the same way I obsessed over wedding shows just a few years ago...but I digress). So those shows make me bust up crying every. single. time! Man, I feel like a pathetic pregnant lady when that happens. A hilarious thing happened the other day though! I was watching A Baby Story, on TLC where they follow a mom in the last months of her pregnancy and then through her labor. Well, Steve was around when I was watching it and sat down to talk to me right before the labor part (and believe me, they show it!). Well, when the baby came out, Steve, was hilarious! This is literally what he said:

"Oh my god! That is so weird!"

"Its like in the movie Alien."

"Oh man, that sucks for you!"

LOOOOL Thanks honey! Such a supportive husband I have! Well apparently he had never seen a video birth before, like never. So I guess that's not such a horrible reaction. It just cracked me up! Too funny.

Here's what the baby is looking like this week:
He's been a busy little guy, developing the four chambers of his heart and the valves to pump blood to the rest of his little body. He's only about the size of a grape!

So in other 9 week news, we had a party for my Dad this weekend and decided it was a good time to tell our family. Everyone was so excited and supportive! It makes me feel so great that our family is excited and happy for us. Its a scary thing, and its great to know we have so much support!

Exciting Moment of the Week: Definitely seeing the reactions on the faces of our family when we told them. It is the best feeling to have people be so excited and happy for you. Oh and my mom freaked out when I showed her that we cleaned out our extra bedroom to make it the nursery. There isn't even one baby thing in there and she still freaked out. Too cute :)

What I am Missing this Week: Caffeine! Man, I am so tired in the mornings and some coffee with cream would really do the trick pretty please. I have been pretty good about not drinking caffeine this entire time except for 1 tea. I did have some Diet Coke this weekend at the party and man, it tasted so good. But its bad for the baby so we will not be having any more of that!

Symptoms this Week: Aside from the fatigue, tummy ache, feeling bloated, nausea and yucky taste in the mouth, and some constipation...I'm feeling great! LOL no really this week I have been feeling much better. I finally have started to kick that sinus/cold whatever the heck it was and that is helping a lot.

Obsessions this Week: Reading about baby stuff. I have been doing some research and find some books I want to read so I'm waiting for those to come in. I've finished the Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy and while it was hilarious and totally made me crack up, I'm looking for some more "scientific" advice..Lol

Message to the Baby: Baby, we are so excited to meet you and found some other people who might be just as excited! You are going to have so much family love when you are born its not going to be funny! So lucky, already!

8 Weeks...8 is not so great

Eight weeks pregnant and lots been going wrong. :( Its been a rough week for me and my pregnant self. First of all we had another doctor's appointment on Friday where he had said he wanted to do my yearly exam and the baseline bloodwork, etc. Well our lovely doctor moved offices last week and it was chaos at his new place. They couldn't find my chart (and never did before I left). Then the nurse had no idea what she was doing or what I was there for. Then we had to wait 45 minutes in that tiny room and Steve was climbing the walls. We never have to wait and that seems like a long time to have to start waiting. So our lovely doctor finally comes in to save the day, but he has no idea what he's doing either! He can't find us in the computer and doesn't have our paper chart. So he does a sonogram and we get to see the baby again, which by the way is growing so quickly! Then he tries to race out of the room and I am like aren't you going to do an exam? He was confused and said, Oh I can't do one now. Well great! Glad we wasted our morning. Geez. Then Steve and I have some questions for him and he's in a hurry. We did manage to ask him one question, "How long should we wait to tell people?" and I couldn't believe his response. He said, "What are you now about 10, 11 weeks?" Um excuse me? Aren't you the doctor? And didn't you just look at my 8 week old fetus??? OMG I almost lost it on him.
So then I went to the lab to get my bloodwork and they had no idea who I was or why I was there. It was just awful. So now we get to come back in a month and try it again. I hope they are more organized this time. They are going to make a pregnant lady go crazy!

Other than that week 8 has been mostly just more tired, nauseous and feeling yucky. I have started to develop that gross taste in my mouth which is awesome. I also caught this nasty virus and have been really sick for the past few days. Its been awful being pregnant (already tired and cranky) and now sick and feeling really yucky all the time. Plus, I've started full throttle throwing up now. It sucks. Let. Me. Tell. You. Ugh. Every time I brush my teeth in the morning its time to gag and vomit. Gross, gross, gross. So this past week hasn't been so glamorous...LOL

Anyways, our little baby is growing like crazy now. Just look at him go!

This week he's been developing his little hands and feet and breathing tubes are developing from his throat to the branches in his lungs. So exciting! You go big guy. I'm trying to eat something and keep it down for you, but its hard this week!

Exciting Moment of the Week: Getting to see you with your little arms and legs waving all over the place at the doctor's appointment. You are starting to really look like a baby now and not just a blob.

What I am Missing this Week: Sleep!! Big time! Its so hard to sleep when you are sick and stuffy nose, etc, etc. I stayed home from work to try to get better but I guess its harder to get better with this baby and not taking any medications. I'm hoping to rest this weekend and get back to normal soon!

Symptoms this Week: Like I said lots of barfing and nasty mouth stuff going on. Still having the soreness of the boobs and all that other jazz but this week the nausea has definitely stepped it up. :(

Obsessions this Week: Just trying to survive, honestly. I haven't had much time to think or do anything so staying alive and trying to keep some food down has been my goal.

Message to Our New Baby: We are so excited to meet you! We hope you are doing ok, even though I can't seem to keep anything down for you lately. I hope you aren't feeling as yucky and sick as I am. We love you!!

7 Week Update

I am officially 7 weeks pregnant! I sort of don't feel very pregnant at the moment but I keep reminding myself that I am. Its sort of weird to be in your same body and think that a little person is growing inside of you. According to BabyCenter.com, hands and feet are emerging this week from the arms and legs that grew last week. Our little bean is also forming eyelids a nose and tiny veins this week. How exciting! Here's what the little guy looks like this week:

Last week was tough as far as nausea and just feeling generally yucky. Oh and the super duper tiredness. Without caffeine to help, I struggle to stay awake at work and when I get home at 5:30pm I barely can force myself to fix some food and zone out on the couch for a few hours before crawling into bed. I have heard that the tiredness will go away after the first trimester, but it is in full force now that's for sure!

We told our parents last week and they were both super excited! My parents took it much better than I expected them to and that is great! We spent some time with other family this weekend too but just felt like it was too early to tell anyone else. We want to find the right time for the big announcement. Plus we were celebrating other occasions and I really don't want to take the focus off of anyone else's day.

I dragged Steve to a consignment sale on Friday. When I was a nanny, I had always heard about these awesome sales that only come around a few times a year where you can get great bargains for cheap. I always kind of heard they are secretive and hard to get into. I found one on a site on thebump.com and signed up to go to the "New Mom's" Presale. I was super excited and with my ticket in hand Steve and I showed up around 5pm on Friday. Well the presale started at 4pm and I learned my lesson with this one. We should have been there at 3:45pm! By the time we got there there weren't that many people (or stuff) there but everything good had already been taken and stacked in a neat pile to the side to gloat at me. I saw tons of good stuff that I would have loved to grab if we had only been an hour earlier! Plus, since we don't know the sex of the baby yet, it was really hard to buy most things as they were obviously tailored for a boy or a girl. We did have our eyes on one electronic swing (that vibrated and played music) in a cute brown pattern but a lady had already put a hold on it. It was only $15 bucks! Can you believe that amazing deal? We did manage to score some gender neutral things for cheap but I was left feeling a little cheated looking at all the good deals I could have had! Oh well. Here are some pictures of our finds:

This thing is a scooter/walker combo. It converts for when they start to walk. I think it was 15 bucks!
A diaper pad with 2 covers for $5, not too shabby!

Finally some of our first real baby stuff. Like I said there wasn't much in the way of things that were unisex but we couldn't pass up these cute little tennis shoes for $2 each, the onesies that were 3 for $1 and that little porcupine guy! We didn't get much but we also didn't spend much so I guess that is a good thing!

We are going to see the doctor again on Friday so we are both looking forward to any new developments or advice he will have for us. I'm going to try to post developments and milestones and also a message to our new baby each week. (An idea I got from an awesome blog I've recently discovered: http://julia-transition.blogspot.com/)

Exciting Moment of the Week: Telling our Parents for sure. My mom almost cried which was so sweet. Steve's mom started yelling at the top of her lungs in the middle of a restaurant. (Which really isn't that unusual for her but it was still sweet:)

What I am Missing this Week: Definitely Caffeine. My morning coffee is surely missed as well as my afternoon tea/soda and evening caffeinated drink. I am so tired during the day and getting an extra kick from a caffeinated drink would be just amazing right about now. But I know its not good for the baby. I actually ready somewhere that large amounts of caffeine in the first trimester can contribute to miscarriage, so that settles it. Although I have been indulging in a piece of chocolate here and there because I just Cannot. Live. Without. It!

Symptoms this Week: Still super tired and kind of cranky. I'm still feeling generally nauseated and not able to eat a complete meal without getting sick to my stomach halfway through. This hasn't turned into full fledged vomiting, yet. So I'm still thanking my lucky stars. Also, I'm much more sappy and emotional lately. I suppose this is normal but crying at any commercials that involve a baby is a little excessive don't you think hormones!

Obsessions this Week: Baby Stuff! What else? I swear I picture our nursery about 25 times a day and have looked online at cribs and other nursery related things at least an hour a day. I am so excited to get the space ready for the new baby! We will definitely have to save up money for those things, but I'm having a ton of fun picturing them!

Message to our New Baby: We can't wait to meet you, baby! We hope you are enjoying yourself in there and momma is trying to be as healthy as can be for you! Keep growing! We are looking forward to seeing your grey blooby self again at the doctor this week! Everytime I think about hearing your heartbeat for the first time it makes me cry. :)

6 Weeks Prego!

So we went to the OB last Friday in order to make it "official". And he agrees...we are definitely pregnant! He said he would normally run blood tests but he wanted to try a sonogram just in case. And there he was, our little peanut! Right there on the screen! The doctor even turned on the sound and we heard his little heartbeat! I can't believe it. I think both Steve and my jaws dropped. We were both like, "No way!". Dr. Forsetter is so sweet, he was just as excited as we are. He said I am 6 weeks pregnant and everything looks great. How exciting!!!

We even got to take home a picture of our little bambino! Can you believe it??

Since we had the official confirmation from the doctor, we decided to tell our parents. Its so hard to not scream it at the top of your lungs! But we wanted to wait to tell extended family, friends, etc. just in case. It was so heartbreaking last time to go through the excitement of telling people to the dissapointment of having to tell them we lost the baby just a few days later. So this time we are playing it safe. And praying like crazy! Its so funny how something you just discovered you had can become the most important thing in your life. The doctor said everything looks great and the baby, so far, is healthy. He also reassured us that the chances of miscarriage after hearing a heartbeat are greatly reduced. I just hope he is right!

So this week I am feeling like crud. I am so tired during the day and have an upset stomach most of the day. I am nausceous all the time and have to keep eating constantly to keep the nausea at bay. I haven't had to take the plunge to full throwing up...yet. I did have a close call this weekend while driving with Steve. Driving in the car seems to be the worst for getting me feeling all yucky and pukey. Food is also staring to take on a life of its own. I can be super hungry, get started on cooking something and be completely excited about it but by the time I'm done it makes me want to barf to think about eating some. It really sucks. Especially since eating seems to be the only thing that makes my tummy feel a little better. Just thinking about some foods gets my gag reflex going. Like this weekend, we went to 2 different barbeques and all that food that I used to love to eat makes me want to run for the bathroom now! I tried to choke down a hot dog at my cousin's engagement shower so no one would be suspicious. I did have to turn down beer/wine about 3 times so I'm sure they are all suspicious already.

This past weekend was Labor Day weekend and man, was I greatful for the extra down time. We had a wedding and a family bbq but other than that I pretty much laid on the counch or slept the entire weekend. I didn't go to 2 other bbqs because I was feeling so tired and run down. I slept about 9 hours each night and take a 2 to 3 hour nap each day! This baby is wearing me out! And he's not even born yet!!

Pregnant!

So we found out this weekend that we are pregnant! It is a pretty big surprise. We have been talking about having a baby forever. We didn't plan this one though! We had stopped using birth control last year for financial reasons and decided to try out counting the days of my cycle and abstaining during my ovulations. That was working great for a year. I guess last month, someone miscounted because here we are. Here's how it happened:

Two weeks ago I noticed that I was really emotional. Some things that wouldn't normally upset me, really did to the point where I was crying one day at work. I counted and noticed that I was supposed to start my period that Friday so I thought that was the reason I was feeling so emotional and I didn't think anything of it. When the weekend came and no period I started to feel a little weird and double checked my counting. (I'm usually pretty regular down to the time of day when I get my period so being even a few days late was unusual for me). Last week went by with no period still and I started to get worried. I was gone on a business trip all last week so when I got home I told Steve and he immediately thought I was pregnant and wanted me to take a test. Luckily we had one at home and I took it. About 20 seconds later it said Pregnant! I was yelling at Steve that I was pregnant and we both started laughing and crying and hugging and we both just couldn't believe it. It was a really sweet moment and you could tell that he was excited, scared and all that as much as I was. :)

So today I made an appointment to see my doctor on Friday to confirm the pregnancy. I suspect I'm about 4 or 5 weeks along but we will know more on Friday. That's kind of a long time to wait to find out for sure!

So this weekend and today I started reading everything I can about pregnancy and what an expectant mom is supposed to do for a healthy baby. About a year ago this time we had a miscarriage so those worries and fears are coming back to me now. All I can do is hope for the best and pray and take the best care of myself I can. I will let you know after we see the doctor!
