It was so surreal. I can't even believe that happened! The whole week of the World Series it was like you could feel the tension in the whole city of St. Louis. Everyone was nervous but excited for their Cardinals. There were some awesome players on the team who helped us win. Obviously when you think of the Cardinals, you think Albert Pujols.
He was spectacular in the Cardinals run to the playoffs and in the early series. He had one super great game at the World Series and was just a force the other teams has to deal with the entire time. I think most of St. Louis hopes he comes back as a Cardinal next year. Cross your fingers!
This year we had Lance Berkman, an awesome hitter who really helped us out in the playoffs.
But no other player was as amazing during the series than David Freese. He was voted MVP of the World Series! And he's from St. Louis! So exciting. And he's kinda cute. (sorry Steve)
One new "player" we had on the Cardinals team throughout this playoff run was the Rally Squirrel. This squirrel ran across home plate in our series vs the Phillies and everyone got behind the Rally Squirrel after that! Too funny!
One bittersweet thing was that after the World Series, the manager of the Cardinals, Tony LaRussa announced his retirement. He has been kind of a controversial figure but I think he's been great for the Cardinals. You can't ask for a much better way to go out! Good luck Tony!
Congrats Cards! Thanks for making 2011 extra special!
